Kraft Heinz wanted a significant increase in the amount of pallet layers being picked automatically without making changes in the existing product configuration

Challenges:

The challenge from for Heinz was to increase automation without the associated changes in product configuration. This meant:

• Increasing the amount of automated layer picking performed at the site without associated changes in site
• Maintaining current product configurations.

Solutions Implemented:

The Körber Layer Picker® was identified as a potential solution and proved its worth at the first product testing. Heinz implemented:

• Layer Picker®Flex-R
• Conveyors

Benefits:

Heinz was able to increase throughput without demanding product configuration changes. This meant:

• Increasing throughput to approximately 12,000 pallets every week
• Ensuring that 80% of products leave as full pallets
• Picking 20% of the pallets
